I need to use English very often as I teach students from other countries and courses in English at a graduate school. But instead of getting better, I felt my English skills were not getting better or, even worse, deteriorating. So I had been worrying about what to do and that’s when I met Janet. These days, I ‘ve been keeping notes of English phrases that I’m not sure about when I’m sending emails, English expressions that I’m not sure are suitable for seminars and classes, and any other questions I have with regards to using English. When I ask the questions, Janet answers all of them. In turn, I feel like I am becoming more confident using English. It is also great that the classes are flexible; if something comes up, I can just contact Janet in advance and reschedule. I think it’s very helpful to have a class once a week and invest one or two hours of time for assignments. Janet fixing my English has been a great help. After four months of classes with her, I felt it was easier to communicate in English when I recently was on my business trip abroad. I believe private English lessons might be the best way to take your English skills to another level, which is difficult because people in Korea do not use it nearly as much as Korean, even though English is necessary here.

The reason I wanted to study with Janet was because I could learn correct English pronunciation as she is a native speaker. In my opinion, it would not be effective if I were to learn English from a Korean person as we would probably use bits and pieces of Korean to communicate with each other.
It is great that Janet is proficient in Korean and that she does not use it much in classes. She also patiently waits until I slowly finish, sometimes stutter, what I want to say. So I feel very comfortable and not at all nervous when I study with Janet even though she is a native English speaker.
I am in my 50s so I tend to forget what I studied with Janet. But she reminds me right away. Sometimes, she is elated and gives me compliments when I make perfect English sentences (in a very few occasions LOL). It feels extremely great.
English used to stress me out. After meeting Janet, English classes with her are extremely enjoyable and my fear of English is slowly fading away.
I would like to keep studying with Janet for a long time.
Having studied for four years in the US, I thought I would be able to speak English fluently even when I came back to Korea. However, I realized that my English fluency was getting worse because I was using English less and less in my daily life. So I was pretty worried about going back to America. That was when I met Janet. Without sticking exclusively to textbooks, I have been having conversational classes with Janet once a week for six months. She has been correcting my grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. As a result, I am overcoming the fear I had seven months ago and have become more confident in English to the point that I was able to successfully make phone calls in English to school staff.
I believe that learning English from a good teacher is more important than investing hundreds of hours studying English. For me, Janet is a good teacher.
It has been a month since I was given English lessons by Janet. Since it’s been such a short time, I can’t really say my English is way better but within that month, I have overcome my fear of using English. Before, whenever I met people from abroad, I was so nervous that I was sweating. Whenever I went abroad, I was just checking out their facial expressions and used body language for communication. However, I overcame my fear of talking with people from abroad and become confident in speaking in English through lessons with Janet!! After a test she gave me, she chose a perfect textbooks for my level and it feels like the hour-long English lessons go by so fast. She has not only taught me material from the textbook but also lets me know a lot of different aspects of American and Canadian culture, which makes the lessons even more interesting. I think the greatest strength of Janet is that she checks my pronunciation of every word very meticulously. I would highly recommend Janet’s English lessons to anyone who is struggling over what to do with his/her English conversational skills.

There are a number of occasions where I present my research findings at international conferences but because I am not fluent in English, I only used to do poster presentations rather than speak in front of the crowd. I wanted to explain my findings in English at conferences, though, before my chances were up. So I found Janet after searching for an English conversational teacher who gives private lessons. With Janet, my English hasn’t gotten way way better but that’s not because Janet isn’t qualified, but because I have absolutely no time for English outside of our class time. In spite of that, I am very satisfied with Janet’s lessons because I am no longer afraid to talk with people from abroad. A foreigner asked me for directions on the subway when I was heading back home from work. Without having to worry about if what I was saying was correct, I was able to speak comfortably. At that moment, I realized it was because of Janet. I believe that is the greatest benefit of having private lessons with a native speaker. And finally, Thanks to Janet, I recently successfully completed three presentations in English at conferences.
